ConservationSpace: Build Phase
Open Source Application Design
and Development by and for the
Conservation Community
In January of 2012, the National Gallery of Art, in partnership with the Courtauld Institute of Art, the Denver Art Museum, the Indianapolis Museum of Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Statens Museum for Kunst, and Yale University, held a week-long workshop to kick off the Build Phase of ConservationSpace. In this phase the NGA and its partners will work with software developers to create the first functional version of the ConservationSpace system. A system prototype capable of being tested by the partners is anticipated by the end of 2012.
The partner teams include conservators and information technology specialists from both US and abroad. In addition the partners also represent a wide rage of conservation specialties and collection contexts. The goal of all involved is create a system that will be useful to the conservation community at-large across specialty and collection lines, laboratories large and small.
